The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet has approved the Chief Minister’s Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (Higher Education) to include all graduates. The aim of the scheme is to provide employment opportunities to young people with diplomas and degrees by developing their skills.
The stipend for participants has also been increased to Rs 9,000 per month, with the state government reimbursing Rs 10,000 and the rest being provided by the central government and the entrepreneurs where the apprenticeships take place.
The government has allocated Rs 100 crore for the scheme. The Finance Minister explained that previously, only diploma holders could participate in apprenticeships, but now graduates from any course or stream can join.
The scheme is designed to provide the benefits of the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS) to diploma holders and graduates in all streams in Uttar Pradesh and to encourage private institutions. It is estimated that around 10 lakh students will benefit from the scheme.
