Here’s what MS Dhoni thinks is the reason behind CSK’s bounce back in the IPL

Chennai Super Kings convincingly beat Sunrisers Hyderabad on Wednesday yet again adding to the list of consecutive victories for the men in Yellow. This is making experts, as well as fans, wonder what changed after the initial losses that the team has returned with its winning spirit and skill on the field.

Even during the last edition of IPL in the UAE, CSK was unable to live up to the expectations and the players could be seen way out of their forms and comfort. But when the team enters the ground now, the x-factor could again be seen among the cricketers. So what changed?

Who better than MS Dhoni himself to answer the question. When asked about the changes in the mindset or attitude among players, the captain said that they could come back on track because they addressed the problem behind them not doing well in the last edition, which was also the worst season ever for the franchise.

He added that players have taken more responsibility this year and that is what has essentially made all the difference. After the fifth consecutive win for the team, Dhoni addressed the question during the post match presentation saying, “I think addressing the problem (on what’s been different for CSK this year?).”

In 2021, the team had failed to qualify for playoffs and that was the first time that team led by Dhoni failed to do so. He had then said that the failure had not one but many factors behind it. It is noy right to blame a single person for the loss. And now, the former national captain accepted that there were certain shortcomings in the team which were addressed ahead of this year’s IPL.

“The earlier you settle the better. Another factor was 5-6 months we were out of cricket. Nothing was allowed. It’s not that you could go on your own and practice. That also makes it difficult. Change of quarantine was slightly longer. Lots of factors,” he said in his usual fashion.

He further added that if we conclude the match and our comeback then it is to be established that as individuals, players took more responsibility. “It boils down to how each individual rises to the occasion and gives the extra 10 percent for the team,” he added
