After a lot of controversy during the twitter battle between badminton star Saina Nehwal and actor Siddharth, the latter has finally apologized to the player on Tuesday.
He was accused of using a sexist slur to refer to Nehwal in a tweet when she posted about the Prime Minister being unsafe in the country. He apologized to the star shuttler saying that she has always been his champion.
He wrote an open letter saying that the original comment was supposed to be a joke and it did not go as it was intended. To this, the shuttler replied saying that the matter was about a woman and he should not have disrupted like that.
However, the player also added that he should not have targeted women like that but it is fine and she is not bothered by it. “I am happy in my space and god bless him,” she added.
Siddharth was accused of being sexist due to this remark while the actor claims that he is an ally of feminsit movement in the country. Addressing the letter with ‘Dear Saina’, he said, “I may disagree with you on many things but even my disappointment or anger when I read your tweet, cannot justify my tone and words. “
He also said that even though the remake was meant to be a joke if a joke needs to be explained that surely it was not very good.
The actor deleted the tweet after the uproar. He is known to be a tough critic of the center and Nehwal is now a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party. While talking about the India Open, the player said that she used to like him as an actor but whatever he said was not nice and he should have used better words to express himself.
