Heavy Rains in Chennai: Railway and Police Announce Helplines for Public Assistance

Due to the northeast monsoon heavy rains are predicted in Chennai. After several notifications and red alerts about the heavy rainfall, Southern Railway, and the city police have taken measures to assist residents and travelers. Southern Railway has provided helpline numbers for passengers to take updates on train services. The city police- Chennai Police has set up control rooms across the city to manage rain-related emergencies in the region.

Southern Railway Helpline Numbers

Because of the rain forecast Chennai division of  Southern Railway has announced two helpline numbers for passengers to inquire about train departures and arrivals. The helpline numbers are as follows:

Chennai Police Control Rooms

In addition, the Greater Chennai Corporation and the Chennai Police have set up control rooms in 10 police districts to manage rain-related incidents. These control rooms along with 35 more in low-lying areas will help coordinate flood relief and other emergency services.
