Hassle-Free Auto-Download Your Favorite Podcasts On YouTube Music

YouTube Music is introducing a new feature that allows users to auto-download podcasts within the app.

This comes after Google announced the discontinuation of its Podcast app, making YouTube Music the sole platform for podcasts.

To enable the auto-download feature, you can go to the show page, tap on the settings icon, select “Save to library,” and then turn on auto-downloads.

However, it is unclear whether the feature automatically deletes episodes after they have been listened to. In the previous Google Podcasts app, users had the option to auto-delete completed episodes after a certain time period.

YouTube Music currently does not have this feature integrated. Managing auto-downloads in YouTube Music requires going to the Library tab, selecting the Podcasts filter, and accessing the Downloaded section through individual overflow menus.

The transition from Google Podcasts to YouTube Music may be challenging for some users, but the company is working on simplifying the use of new features.

The auto-download feature is available on version 6.21 of YouTube Music for both Android and iOS. Additionally, Google is reportedly working on an automated flow for the YouTube Music app, which will be rolled out soon.

I really liked this new feature on YouTube Music for downloading podcasts. I think it’s a pretty cool addition, especially since Google has shifted all its podcast content to YouTube Music.

The auto-download feature is handy because it saves us the trouble of manually downloading episodes one by one.

It’s easy to activate – just go to the show page, tap on settings, choose “Save to library,” and enable auto-downloads.

However, there’s a little uncertainty about whether it removes episodes after we’ve listened to them. That’s something I hope they clarify or improve soon.

The only thing missing compared to the old Google Podcasts app is the option to auto-delete episodes after some time.

Right now, we have to manage our downloads by going to the Library, then Podcasts, and accessing the Downloaded section individually. It’s not as convenient as it used to be, but I hope they’ll make it simpler soon.

YouTube Music is becoming the go-to platform for podcasts and a big rival to Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music and so on. It’ll be interesting to see how they further develop and streamline these features.

YouTube has become the preferred platform for 4 out of every 5 people online in India, and its short-video-making app called Shorts has gained popularity, with 96% of 18 to 44-year-olds in the country using it.
