Harmanpreet Singh Named ‘FIH Player of The Year’ For The 2nd Consecutive Year

Harmanpreet Singh becomes just the 4th player to win the International Hockey Federation – ‘Player of the Year’ award for two consecutive years.

Harmanpreet Singh, a defender for India, was awarded the FIH Player of the Year for the men’s division on Friday for the second year in a row.

The 26-year-old joined an elite group that includes Teun De Nooijer (Netherlands), Jamie Dwyer (Australia), and Arthur van Doren ((Belgium) as the only player to win the Player of the Year title (men’s category) in consecutive years.

International Hockey Federation (FIH) stated in a statement,

“A true modern-day hockey superstar, Harmanpreet Singh. He is an excellent defender with a talent for being in the right spot at the right time to destroy the opposition’s offense.”

“He can move the ball across the field from defense with his excellent dribbling ability. And he continues to score goals after goals!

He has now been named the FIH Player of the Year for the second consecutive year, adding to his already excellent résumé.”

Tom Boon and Thierry Brinkmann were second and third, with 23.6 and 23.4 points, respectively, behind Harmanpreet, who had a total score of 29.4 points.
