Gujarat Police, DRI Raid Maharashtra Factory, Seize ₹500 Crore

Last updated on November 9th, 2023 at 04:11 pm

Gujarat Police and DRI, a government agency, recently did a big operation. They raided a factory in Maharashtra. This factory was making illegal drugs. The police and DRI found drugs and materials worth more than ₹500 crore.

This happened in the Aurangabad district of Maharashtra. Two people got arrested. One of them is the main person behind this illegal work. He is from Surat and is a chemical engineer. Before this, he worked in a pharma company.

The operation was based on special information gathered by the DRI and Ahmedabad Police. The factory’s name is ‘Mahalakshmi Industries’. They were making Mephedrone and Ketamine, which are dangerous drugs. The police took 4.5kg of Mephedrone, 4.3kg of Ketamine, and 9.3kg of another mixture from the factory. The total value of these drugs is over ₹250 crore.

But, that’s not all. The raw materials found could make even more drugs, pushing the total value to ₹500 crore. Officials also searched the home of one accused person. They found 23kg of cocaine, 2.9kg of Mephedrone, and ₹30 lakh in cash. These drugs were being sent to different states in India and even other countries.

This operation reminds us of two big issues. One, synthetic drugs are becoming more common. Two, some factories are misusing their resources to make these drugs. This is a very big problem that needs immediate action.

So, the operation was a big success, but it also tells us that we need to be more alert. It’s important to stop these kinds of activities for the safety of our society. This operation is a big wake-up call. It shows how big the problem of illegal drug-making has become in our country. Sadly, many states have criminals doing such bad work, but only a few states are really active in catching them.

The Gujarat Police and DRI have done a great job here, but we need all states to work just as hard. The man behind this was a chemical engineer. That tells us that educated people are also getting involved in such crimes, which is very worrying.

The drugs were not just for India but were being sent to other countries too. This means these illegal productions were impacting globally and might be funded and controlled by foreign sources. It’s high time for every state to take strong steps. We need to find these criminals and stop them to keep our country safe. We need constant effort, not just one-time actions.
