Govt To Seize 123 Waqf Board Properties For Obtaining Public Places

The Indian government is going to take over 123 Waqf Board properties like mosques, dargahs etc. They are accused of obtaining lands & public places fraudulently.

The Central Waqf Council was established by the Government of India in 1964 in compliance with the Waqf Act of 1954 with the purpose of advising it on matters pertaining to the functioning of the State Waqf Boards and the efficient management of the Waqfs in the country.

The Waqf board has allegedly committed fraud in order to acquire lands and public spaces, therefore it is understandable that people continue to question the significance of their acts.

The decision to “absolve” the board from all matters relating to the 123 waqf properties was communicated to the board in a letter from the deputy land and development officer on February 8.

According to the Land and Development Office (L&DO) of the federal government, the Delhi Waqf Board made no representations or voiced any concerns to the activities of the two-member committee on the topic of denotified waqf properties. S P Garg, a retired judge, served as the group’s leader.

The Federal Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry’s decision to seize 123 Delhi Waqf Board properties, including mosques, dargahs, and cemeteries, angered Amanatullah Khan, the board’s chairman and an AAP MLA.

The Delhi Waqf Board, according to the L&DO, was the principal stakeholder/ affected party to whom the committee gave the opportunity. It did not, however, present before the committee or submit any representations or protests in relation to the 123 properties.

“The aforementioned information makes it clear that Delhi Waqf Board has no ownership interest in the listed properties and hasn’t expressed a desire for them or made any claims or objections.

Thus, it is decided to release Delhi Waqf Board from any and all obligations relating to “123 Waqf Properties,” “says the letter from L&DO.
