Google’s Bard is being positioned as a rival to OpenAI’s ChatGPT and is hoped to narrow the gap between Google and OpenAI in the AI chatbot race.
Google is using this early experiment to test the chatbot and make it error-free before giving it a wider rollout.
According to Google, Bard is capable of offering a wider set of responses and can help users set goals for reading books, explain quantum physics in simpler language, and even write a blog post. The company is keen to get feedback from more people to improve Bard further.
Google has learned a lot so far through its internal testing of Bard. Now, with the next critical step in improving the chatbot being to get feedback from more people, Google is opening access to a limited number of users. The company is hoping to make Bard as articulate and sensible as ChatGPT.
Interestingly, Google is trying to distance itself from any inaccurate responses Bard may give, with a note stating, “Bard may display inaccurate information that doesn’t represent Google’s views.”
This is understandable, given that chatbots rely on machine learning and could, therefore, display responses that are inconsistent with a company’s views.
The move by Google to test Bard comes after OpenAI has made significant strides in the AI chatbot space. OpenAI’s ChatGPT has been widely used, and it has been tested in different scenarios to prove its effectiveness.
Google has lagged behind OpenAI in this area, and it hopes that Bard could help it to catch up.
Google has started to test its AI chatbot, Bard, with a limited group of users in the US and UK.
The chatbot is designed to compete with OpenAI’s ChatGPT and narrow the gap between Google and OpenAI in the AI chatbot race.
Google is looking to get feedback from more people to improve Bard further and make it as articulate and sensible as ChatGPT. It will be interesting to see how Bard performs in comparison to ChatGPT.
