Global Business Summit 2024: India Aims To Become A $30 Trillion Economy

The Global Business Summit 2024, organized by ET Now, is currently taking place in Delhi, India. The event began on February 9th and will continue until February 10th.

The summit aims to bring together global leaders, business tycoons, and policymakers to discuss pressing issues in politics, economy, and diplomacy. 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered a keynote address at the summit, where he emphasized that this is India’s time and that the world’s confidence in India is rising. 

He mentioned that the words “disruption, development, and diversification” are currently being discussed the most, highlighting India’s growth and development.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari spoke about the importance of improving infrastructure for the development of industries, tourism, and agriculture. 

He stressed that without proper infrastructure, India cannot develop in these sectors. Gadkari mentioned that by the end of 2024, India’s national highway road network will be equivalent to that of the USA, surpassing China.

Coursera CEO Jeff Maggioncalda spoke about the impact of Generative AI on jobs, particularly those involving decision-making, strategy, and media. He mentioned that almost every job in these areas will be impacted by automation.

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw stated that the railway sector in India is experiencing significant growth and will continue to do so in the future. He stated that the market share of railways has been increasing, and by 2030, it is expected to reach about 35% of the entire transportation sector.

Additionally, Vaishnaw praised the Vande Bharat trains and mentioned that their experience has been better than that of trains in Europe.

Other speakers at the summit include Raghu Sundaram, Dean at NYU Stern School of Business, Martin Raiser, and VP for South Asia World Bank.
