‘Ghar Wapsi’ Declares Rajesh Tikait After 383 Days Of Farmer Protest

Punjab -‘Ghar Wapsi’ finally has come through for the farmers as the Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) successfully completed 383 days of protest at the Ghazipur border today. The BKU will leave the borders as shared by their official spokesperson Rakesh Tikait.

Sisauli in Uttar Pradesh, the hometown of Rakesh Tikait, is now preparing for the grand welcome of their hero. He has camped at the Ghazipur border along with hundreds of farmers to demand the repeal of the Centre’s three contentious farm laws.

Tikait, did not hesitate to share on social media, pictures, and videos of the reception his convoy got as they left Ghazipur to reach Sisauli village in western UP’s Muzaffarnagar district.

In early December this year, the legislation was finally withdrawn in Parliament and the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM), an umbrella body of farmers’ unions could reach an agreement with the government on other longstanding demands. The agitating farmers has blocked the Singhu, Tikri, and Ghazipur border of Delhi. Now, after securing this landmark victory, the protests were called off and the protesting farmers are returning home gradually.

Amongst all the protesting farmer’s unions, Rakesh Tikait, Became the most recognizable face of the farmers’ movement. He made a statement to the media saying that they will clear the borders by December 16. Today morning (8am), a havan ceremony was also performed at the Ghazipur border, and later at 9 am Takiat and his contingent of supporters moved out of the Ghazipur site.

Today is the farewell day to the Ghazipur border and return back home. The contingent will travel via Modi Nagar, Meerut, Daurala toll plaza, and Mansoorpur before reaching their destination Sisauli in UP’s Muzaffarnagar district.

Police forces have been deployed all along the route as the planned march can have a heavy impact on traffic. A company of PAC is deployed at the UP gate and police will be keeping a watch over the entire route and all police stations have been alerted. Additionally, a contingent of cops will escort Takait to Modi Nagar.

Arrangements for his grand welcome has been made en route for his arrival. Hundreds of bhandara and lungers are already organized, starting from Ghazipur to Sisauli to celebrate the farmers’ hard-earned victory a momentous occasion. Indeed, there is an atmosphere of joy and excitement amongst the people of Sisuali. People are gathering to participate in this big celebration.
