Geeta Jhala To Sing National Anthem In WTC Final, India vs Australia

Gujarati singer Geeta Jhala will sing the Indian national anthem at the World Test Championship Final match of India vs Australia, in London on Wednesday.

Renowned Gujarati singer Geeta Jhala has been selected to sing the Indian national anthem at the World Test Championship (WTC) Final between India and Australia. 

The upcoming match will take place at the Kennington Oval in London. Geeta Jhala’s performance will mark a significant achievement as she becomes the first Gujarati singer to receive this honor from the International Cricket Council (ICC).

Geeta Jhala is widely recognized for her versatility and powerful live performances. She gained fame for her rendition of the title track in the 2015 Bollywood film ‘Welcome Back.’ 

Known for her proficiency in classical, Punjabi, and Bollywood music, Geeta has delivered numerous hit songs, including “Moorni Refix,” “Ranjhana,” “Aaja Maahi,” “Oh Miss,” and “Thodi Vaar.” 

Her recent song “Patodu” with Kritidan Gadhavi showcased her ability to seamlessly blend Western style with Indian folk music.

Geeta Jhala’s journey in the music industry began with her rendition of Panjabi MC’s international hit “Moorni,” which gained popularity on the BBC Asian Network charts in London. 

She later relocated to Mumbai, where she continued to create independent music and eventually made her breakthrough in Bollywood with the title track of ‘Welcome Back,’ collaborating with superstar Mika Singh.

Throughout her career, Geeta Jhala has collaborated with various artists and performed on prestigious world stages such as the O2 and Wembley Arena in London, Staples Centre in California, and the Olympic Stadium in Australia. 

She has also made appearances on televised award shows and comedy shows alongside notable personalities like Mika Singh and Navraj Hans.

Geeta Jhala’s performance of the national anthem will take place after the toss for the WTC Final, scheduled for 2:30 pm IST.  The national anthems of both teams will be sung before the first ball is bowled at 3 pm IST.
