Gadar 2: Sunny Deol Reintroduced As Tara Singh With Patriotic Dialogues

Last updated on July 25th, 2023 at 11:14 am

The first part of Gadar (2021) was a blockbuster hit. The budget of the film was just ₹19 crore while it earned a massive collection of ₹133 crore & won 7 awards.

The highly anticipated teaser of the patriotic action drama film starring Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel, Gadar 2, has been officially released by the makers.

The teaser was initially attached to the new 4K prints of the re-released Gadar in theaters on June 9. The release of the teaser comes two months ahead of the planned theatrical release date of August 11, 2023.

In a highly anticipated sequel set in 1971, Sunny Deol reprises his role as Tara Singh, who returns to Lahore, Pakistan to bring his son Charanjeet back to India.

Anil Sharma, the director of the blockbuster movie Gadar released twenty-two years ago, has once again cast his son Utkarsh Sharma in his latest film as the son of Tara, the lead character. Sakina, portrayed by Ameesha Patel, was notably absent from the teaser.

In the latest teaser, a female voice-over can be heard in the background saying, “He is the son-in-law of Pakistan, give him coconut, welcome him, else he will take Lahore in dowry this time.” The teaser also showcases Tara Singh in an action-packed avatar.

The year 2001 witnessed a clash between Gadar and Aamir Khan’s Lagaan: Once Upon a Time in India, both of which emerged as blockbusters.

In a remarkable achievement, the third Indian film has been nominated for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. The film has joined the ranks of the previously nominated Indian films, Mother India (1957) and Salaam Bombay! (1998).

In the upcoming year, a major clash is expected between three highly anticipated movies. The sequel of a popular film, which is yet to be released, will be competing with two other biggies.

One of them is a gangster drama titled “Animal,” directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, featuring a star-studded cast including Ranbir Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol, and Rashmika Mandanna.

The other movie is a satirical comedy titled “OMG 2,” starring the  actor Akshay Kumar, which is the sequel to the 2012 film “OMG – Oh My God!”.

Five major Indian films are set to hit theaters on August 11, in order to capitalize on the elevated Independence Day weekend.
