The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has launched special ‘Tourist Smart Cards’ ahead of the G20 Summit in Delhi.
These cards will offer unlimited rides in the Delhi Metro network and are aimed at facilitating the G20 delegates and international visitors who may be interested in exploring the city’s tourist places.
The ‘Tourist Smart Cards’ will be available for sale at selected Metro stations and will come in two categories – one-day validity and three-day validity cards.
The one-day validity card will cost ₹200, while the three-day validity card will cost ₹500. These prices also include a refundable security deposit of ₹50.
The cards will allow tourists to travel seamlessly in the entire metro network from the first train to the last train service available for the day.
There will be no penalties or surcharges levied on these cards for instances like entry/exit mismatch or overstay in the system.
However, these Tourist Smart Cards will not be available at the Airport Express Line. The Delhi Metro is India’s largest metro network and is well connected to prominent tourist destinations in the city such as the Red Fort, Jama Masjid, Akshardham Temple, and Kalkaji Temple.
The initiative by DMRC aims to make it easier for G20 delegates and international visitors to explore Delhi’s tourist places during their visit for the G20 Summit.
The cards will provide unlimited rides and convenience for national and international tourists to travel around the city using the metro network.

India will be hosting the G-20 Summit in New Delhi on September 9 and 10. To ensure the safety of the event, the Delhi Police have decided to close some metro station gates along the VVIP routes from September 8 to 10.
The Supreme Court, Bhikaji Cama Place, Khan Market, Dhaula Kuan, and Janpath have been declared as ‘sensitive’ areas, and the nearest metro stations to these areas will be completely closed.
This includes Moti Bagh, Bhikaji Cama Place, Munirka, RK Puram, IIT, and Sadar Bazar Cantonment metro stations. Other metro stations in Delhi are expected to operate normally.
The Delhi Police had previously issued a traffic advisory to regulate vehicle movement in the National Capital Region (NCR) for public safety and convenience during the G-20 summit.
