G20 Summit 2022: PM Modi Receives Warm Welcome In Bali, Indonesia

Annual G20 Summit has started in Indonesia’s Bali province. PM Modi was welcomed by Indonesian President Joko Widodo at the summit venue.

The crucial G20 Summit, which will take place from November 15–16 in Bali, Indonesia, will bring together world leaders from 20 different nations. Under the summit theme of “Recover Together, Recover Stronger,” the 17th edition of the meeting will pay special attention to important global concerns. 

The G20 Summit agenda calls for the holding of three working sessions. These include digital change, energy and food security, and health. 

The summit this year would take place against a backdrop of rising food and fuel costs globally, the conflict in Russia and Ukraine, and the resurgent fear of nuclear war. 

At the table, Vladimir Putin, the president of Russia, will be noticeably absent. The G20 accounts for approximately 75% of worldwide trade, nearly 85% of global GDP, and roughly two-thirds of the world’s population.

On Monday, UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres put enormous pressure on G20 countries to cooperate in order to reduce global warming, warning that their actions—or lack thereof—would determine the future of the globe.

A week after warning a UN climate conference in Egypt that the world was “on a motorway to climate hell with our foot on the accelerator,” Guterres was giving a speech on the Indonesian island of Bali before the annual Group of 20 summit, which was this year hosted by Indonesia.

According to Guterres’ proposed “Climate Solidarity Pact,” wealthier economies would step up their efforts to keep global temperature increases to 1.5 degrees Celsius while offering financial and technical assistance to developing nations to hasten their switch to renewable energy sources.

For the G20 summit, the new inhabitant of 10 Downing Street has landed in Bali, an island nation. Sunak made it known that he will be present to criticize Russia and the Putin administration before taking off for Bali.

“There won’t be any business as usual at this G20 conference. We will denounce Putin’s dictatorship and expose their blatant disregard for the kind of global collaboration and respect for independence that organizations like the G20 stand for, “a statement issued by Sunak’s office stated.

The UK and our partners will collaborate to make significant progress resolving the economic issues we confront and improving the lives of our people, the statement continued, in stark contrast to Putin’s disruption.
