The G20 development ministers’ meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi commenced with a formal opening on Monday morning, following a dinner event attended by the guests and hosted by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Minister of External Affairs S Jaishankar on Sunday.

In a warm welcome gesture, folk artists were seen performing at various locations such as airport lounges, hotel lobbies, and ghats. Delegates have arrived at Namo Ghat to embark on a cruise and participate in the Ganga Aarti ceremony at Dashashwamedh Ghat.
Renowned musician Dr. Rakesh Kumar and his group mesmerized the audience with their beautiful renditions of Raag Bhinna Shadaj and the Banarasi Dhun.
The event also featured a captivating performance by dancer Maitrayee Pahari and her troupe, who showcased the vibrant folk dances of Uttar Pradesh, including Charukula, Mayur, Pai Danda, Diwari, Dhediya, Raasleela, Jhoomar, and more.
The EAM engaged in bilateral meetings with his counterparts from the EU, UNCTAD, Australia, and Germany.
Under India’s presidency, the G20 Development Ministers Meeting will commence on Monday morning at the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Trade Facilitation Centre.
The event will kick off with a special video address by the Prime Minister, which will be attended by Jaishankar. An estimated 200 delegates are anticipated to participate in the upcoming meeting.
The Varanasi G20 Development Ministers’ Meeting is currently underway, as reported by the Ministry of External Affairs in a press release.
The meeting is being held in the midst of various developmental challenges that have been further exacerbated by economic slowdown, debt distress, climate change impacts, pollution and biodiversity loss, increasing income disparities and poverty, food and energy uncertainty, cost-of-living crisis, global supply-chain interruptions, and geopolitical tensions and conflicts.

In an upcoming meeting, participants will have the chance to come to a collective agreement on how to accelerate the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
