Former PCB Chairman Revealed that Pakistani Players’ Wives were Taken to India to Keep a Watch on the Players

Former Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Zaka Ashraf has revealed that Pakistan players were permitted to bring their wives on the 2012 India tour so that they could keep an eye on the cricket players.

This was the last time Pakistan and India competed against one another international match. Each team played three ODIs and three T20s.

To Avoid Any Scandal by Media

PCB decided to send the wives of the players to avoid any scandal involving the cricketers, according to Zaka Ashraf.

In an interview, Zaka Ashraf stated that the choice was made so that no issue would arise, as the Indian journalists were always on the watch for such things.

Whose Idea Was This?

Zaka Ashraf said, “When our team embarked on a visit to India during my tenure, I recommended that all of the players’ spouses accompany them.

This decision was made to avoid causing a stir in the Indian media, which is usually on the watch for such things.

The spouses were supposed to keep an eye on the players as well.”

“Everyone accepted it politely and departed for India. Everyone maintained their composure. Every time a Pakistani team visited India, their country tried to trap us and ruin our players’ and country’s reputation. As a result, that was prevented.”

Attempt to Rebuild Relations

Ashraf went on to say that he hopes to see an India-Pakistan series take place soon. According to Ashraf, Pakistan toured India on the BCCI’s invitation and is already planning a return trip.

Ashraf also said, “In terms of cricket, we should constantly try to rebuild relations with the Indian government. The biggest advantage we now have is that General Bajwa is in charge, and he wants Pakistan cricket to succeed.”
