Former Indian shooter and Olympic gold medalist Abhinav Bindra has gifted ‘Tokyo’ to another Olympic gold medalist Neeraj Chopra for his outstanding display of will and passion at the mega event.
Don’ tworry! ‘Tokyo’ is merely the name of the puppy that the former shooter gifted the athlete. `Of course, the name signifies the importance of the venue where the 23-year-old won second olympic gold for the Independent India.
Bindra had expressed his wish to meet Neeraj Chopra on numerous occasions but post his return from Tokyo, Javelin thrower has been busy with various endeavors. Finally when Chopra had some free time in his hand, he got to meet Bindra. The shooter met Chopra at his farmhouse near Zirakpur in the afternoon. Neeraj took to twitter to thank Abhinav Bindra for the gift and also for the warm hospitality of his family. He wrote, “Took my Olympic medal to meet its elder sibling from Beijing today.”
Bindra also tweeted about his happiness on meeting Neeraj Chopra as he said, “The two of us agree that the process is the Goal. The process is the Gold. And the Process is most rewarding. Happy to have spent the afternoon with this young Gold Medalist.”
As he met the former shooter, he was accompanied by his friend and mentor Jaiveer Singh while Bindra was present along with his family at his farmhouse. The two posed alongside each other for a picture that also had the newly gifted pup ‘Tokyo’. Abhinav Bindra had won his gold medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympic making him the only person to have won a gold but this time Chopra has broken that dry spell of gold and brought India the shining medal while also setting a new record.
