FM Nirmala Sitharaman To Attend World Bank-IMF Spring Meet 2023

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will attend the 2023 Springs Meetings of the World Bank, IMF & other G20 meetings. She will also co-chair the G20 FMCBG meet.

Nirmala Sitharaman, the Union Finance Minister, will be in Washington, D.C. on Monday for the 2023 Spring Meetings of the World Bank Group, the International Monetary Fund, and other G20 gatherings.

Sitharaman will participate in discussions with central bankers and finance ministers from all across the world.

On April 12, Sitharaman and Shaktikanta Das, governor of the Reserve Bank of India, will co-chair the second G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors, FMCBG meeting. (Tuesday).

The summit will be attended by about 350 delegates from G20 members, 13 invited nations, and numerous international and regional organizations.

The management of global debt vulnerabilities, the strengthening of Multilateral Development Banks, the mobilization of funding for climate action, and the expediting of progress on International Tax and Financial Sector concerns will all be topics of discussion during the summit.

The conference, according to the Finance Ministry, will assess the status of the goals set forth in India’s G20 Finance Track agenda.

The third G20 FMCBG conference, which will be held in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, in July of this year, will enhance efforts toward the drafting of G20 India Finance Track deliverables.

The Leaders Declaration, which will be adopted at the New Delhi Summit in September 2023, is anticipated to benefit from the informed contributions made by the Finance Track during these meetings.

Three sessions will be held during the second G20 FMCBG meeting: one on the global economy and international financial architecture, one on sustainable finance, and financial inclusion, and one on international taxes.

Tuesday’s high-level discussion between the US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen and the Finance Minister will focus on topics of relevance to both parties.

Additionally, on April 12, 2023, India, the International Monetary Fund, and the World Bank will co-chair a conference of the Global Sovereign Debt Roundtable to review the state of the world’s debt and how to overcome present debt restructuring issues.
