There is no doubt that Kane Williamson’s effort to lead New Zealand for victory against Australia but it was clearly Australia’s day and they have now effectively won World Cup in both formats. Mitchell Marsh’s brilliant captaincy made sure to give a tough time to New Zealand and proved to be an uphill task for the black caps.
New Zealand has set a target of 171 for the Aussies but the bowlers did not challenge the Australian side enough to stop them from chasing this relatively high total. The difference between Australia and New Zealand is mostly regarding the teamwork of not the talent of the players on an individual basis.
All of the green sides was positive on the ground and looked like a wholesome team to beat the black caps but from the opposite end, it seemed a one-man show. The majority of the credit for the win however goes to teh 92-run partnership between David Warner and Mitchell Marsh.
Australia has been an excellent form and more than that it has been able to prove itself as a very strong team. It has proved itself twice this week after it chased down 170-plus title at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
Marsh shared his feeling after being credited for the team’s victory. He said, “I don’t really have words, what an amazing six weeks with this group. Love them to death.”
