Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death has dominated the entire media spectrum with new developments unfolding every day during the investigation. Significantly, new twists and turns in the death case of the “Dil Bechara” actor have not only gained the attention of the public and media but of Bollywood filmmakers as well.
As per media reports, a number of filmmakers have expressed their interests in producing movies based on the journey and death of the late actor. Some of the filmmakers have also announced projects and titles profiling the life and death of Sushant Singh Rajput.
In addition, Bollywood filmmakers are showing keen interest in producing movies based on the life of slain gangster Vikas Dubey. The 48-year-old gangster was killed in a police encounter after a road accident on the morning of July 10.
Speaking to media, Indian Motion Picture Producers Association (IMPPA) officials have confirmed that they have received a number of movie titles from filmmakers for approval for projects based on these two stories.
For a movie capturing Sushant Singh Rajput’s death, the IMPPA received titles for approval such as “Sushant Singh Rajput Biography”, “Rajput: The Truth Wins”, “Sushant”, and “The Unsolved Mystery”.
Similarly, for the Vikas Dubey incident, filmmakers have registered various titles with the IMPPA for approval, including “Most Wanted Vikas Dubey”, “Kanpur Ka Vikas Duvet”, “Bahubali Vikas Dubey”, and “Mai Hoon Vikas Dubey Kanpurwala”. This development has come in addition to a web-series, titled “Prakash Dubey Kanpur Wala”, based on the life of gangster Vikas Dubey which is already in the making.
Experts have stated that real stories are topical and have a high level of interest among the audience, adding that it makes it easy for film producers to capitalise on real-life cases and incidents amid the lack of new and fresh stories.
Several films have been produced by Bollywood previously based on real-life deaths or crime incidents including “No One Killed Jessica”, “Talvar” and “Black Friday”.
Meanwhile, Sushant Singh Rajput’s family’s lawyer Vikas Singh recently voiced the family’s opinion that no film/serial/book should be written/made without the consent of his father or without showing the script to him.

“If anyone goes against it, they will do it at their own peril. Legal action will be taken if required,” Vikas Singh had said in a recent statement.
In the list of projects based on Sushant’s life, filmmaker Nikhil Anand has announced the production of a biopic on Sushant Singh Rajput aimed at immortalizing the late actor’s struggle and strength. Another filmmaker Sanoj Mishra announced a film titled ‘Shashank’, inspired by Rajput’s life, starring AaryaBabbar in the lead. Earlier this month, he had also shared the poster of the film on social media featuring AaryaBabbar. However, Sushant Singh Rajput’s sister Shweta Singh Kirti had expressed discontent with the film announcement and had also called for boycotting the film.
It is important to note that all these projects have put forward by fringe filmmakers, without the support of Bollywood biggies. Experts have laid emphasis on the magnitude of controversy connected to Sushant Singh Rajput’s case as the reason behind the lack of interest among celebrated filmmakers to produced projects based on the later actor’s life. Bollywood industry has been facing a lot of flak as various twists and turns are unfolding during the investigation of the case.
