Fashion Designer Sanjukta Dutta To Feature At Paris Fashion Week

Indian fashion designer Sanjukta Dutta’s collection will be showcased  in the Prestigious Paris Fashion Week 2023 from 1st to 8th March.

Sanjukta Dutta, an Indian fashion designer, is one of four to participate in Paris Fashion Week 2023, which begins on March 1. 

Dutta is well renowned for her collection of Muga Silk, a type of golden thread that can only be obtained in Assam. 

This gives the Assamese textile sector, known for its muga silk in particular, optimism. From March 1 to March 8, Sanjukta Dutta’s collection will be officially displayed during Paris Fashion Week.

Sanjukta, who is from the Nagaon district of Assam, has been using Muga Silk and Pat Silk to create distinctive color and print combinations with a traditional Assamese flair. 

Reputable fashion experts from throughout the world have praised her creations. Her creations have been worn by numerous A-list actors and top models, including Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Malaika Arora, Sonakshi Sinha, Raveena Tandon, Neena Gupta, Nora Fatehi, Bhumi Pednekar, Huma Qureshi, and Manisha Koirala.

Sanjukta also created the Seleng Chador, a traditional Assamese ‘Angavastra’ that was given to Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge on their visit to the state in 2016.

At New York Fashion Week in 2022, Sanjukta’s collection received a great deal of praise.

Her empire has expanded thanks to her dedication. She has established 13 factories, beginning with Maa Durga Axomiya Pat as well as Muga Kapuror Boyon Protisthon in Guwahati, which has over 100 looms and produces distinctive silk “Mekhela Chadors’ ‘ alongside local artists.

A valued possession for Assamese women, the classic Mekhela Chadors, with their various colors of silk threads, notably Muga & Pat, are frequently recognised as an integral element of Assamese culture and history.

The designs by Sanjukta are not just distinctive but also customizable. They are handcrafted and are required to complete a strenuous production cycle that lasts for 45 days before being draped.
