Farmers Protest: 2,000 Tractors And Vehicles With 6-Month Food Supplies

According to the intelligence report, the so-called ‘farmers’ protesting in India are planning to enter Delhi through remote and non-motorable borders.

The report states that around 1,500 tractors and 500 vehicles from Punjab alone have been mobilized for the protest, loaded with six months’ worth of food and supplies.

Last time, a few live telecasts by different news channels exposed the 2020 farmers’ protest in Delhi. The tents and camps were full of facilities of smart TVs, washing machines, air-conditioners and so on.

The farmers have identified specific entry points into Delhi, including Shambhu Border, Khanori, and Dabwali. They have also visited several states to seek support from farmers there.

The report mentions that tractors have been modified to serve as shelters for the farmers during their protest. Many of these poor protesting farmers have iPhones and some of these farmers also own Lamborghini.

To avoid detection, the farmers plan to enter Delhi in small groups and hide in places like gurudwaras, dharamshalas, ashrams, and guest houses. They will then hold snap protests in the city. Security agencies are concerned that important locations like the Prime Minister’s House and the Home Minister’s House could be potential targets for these protests.

The farmers in Punjab are protesting and have blocked railway tracks as part of their ongoing protest. They have put forth 12 demands to the central government, including –

  • The scrapping of the Electricity Amendment Bill 2020
  • The reintroduction of the Land Acquisition Act of 2013

They are also demanding – a law guaranteeing a minimum support price (MSP) for all crops, a complete debt waiver, and a pension scheme for farmers and farm laborers.

The government has called for a third round of talks with the farmer leaders to discuss their demands. The previous two meetings did not yield any results. The meeting will take place in Chandigarh and will involve three Union ministers.

The protest, called by the Sanyukt Kisan Morcha and Punjab Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee, are considered to be non-political groups. But they do have well-planned political strategies.

Heavy security has been deployed at the borders of the national capital and Section 144 has been imposed to prevent any untoward incidents.

The farmers have staged a ‘Rail Roko’ protest, blocking railway tracks at seven locations and railway stations in Punjab. The protest continued until 4 pm today, according to the president of Bharti Kisan Union (Ekta Ugrahan).
