Farmers block Delhi-NCR borders as a protest against farm laws reaches 100 days

As Delhi approaches hot summers, the farmers gathered to mark the 100th day of protest against the farm bills and stated that they had no intentions to turn around until their demands for repealing the laws are met by the Government of India.

On Saturday, farmers gathered and blocked Western Peripheral Expressway, and the Kundli–Manesar–Palwal Expressway for five hours as some marched holding their union flags, and some were seen on their tractors.

In Sept 2020, the Parliament of India had passed 3 new farm laws that are a major cause of worry for the farmers as it will remove the MSP system, however, the government continues to state that it will remain unaltered.

Many rounds of talks were held between the government and the farmer’s union representatives but yet there is no solution to the matter.

According to the government, the farm bills will liberalize the farm market and it will help make the system more fitted and recognize better prices for all.

While the farmers believe that the farm bills are a ploy to move away from its old-set-up rules of being the backer of the MSP. The farmers have overcome brutal climate conditions while staying firm on their demand to repeal the three bills.

The farmer’s union leader, Balbir Singh Rajewal stated that farmers have blocked the KMP Highway to state that they will continue the protest till the government doesn’t repeal the farm bills. We have dealt with the biting cold weather in Delhi and we will fight the scorching heat of the summer as well, Rajewal added, NDTV reported.
