Failure to Reach Semi’s Leaves the Players, Fans Disappointed but Here’s What They Might Want to Reconsider

UAE -Millions of dreams have crashed after India’s exit from the T20 World Cup. Team India has announced its return to India after New Zealand beat Afghanistan, the match which decided India’s fate in the ongoing tournament.

Interestingly, this is the second time New Zealand has ended India’s journey in such a major tournament, the first one being the World Test Championship. But cricket holds a special place in the hearts of Indians and after 2011’s victory, the expectations have grown a lot. This loss has affected the morals of the fans as well as the players who are clearly disappointed with the exit.

There are a lot of considerations that the Indian side needs to work on including the decision making skill which were hugely criticized during the first two matches against Pakistan and New Zealand respectively.  It needs to be pondered upon that India was one of the first nations to heavily promote the T20 format and there was a time that India had an impeccable lead in the shortest format.

However, in no time, many other cricket playing nations started to pick up the pace of the format and excelled in it. India might have led on papers but on ground, it started to slow down majorly because a popper combination in the paying 11 was not being formed. Some may agree that India has too good of everything.

The national team has wonderful ballers, baters as well as fielders but the problem is that they all are excellent individually but when they come together, they lack at various places. Coordination is one of the biggest reasons for this loss. ANother area that the Indian side might need to work on is the decision making department.

A call that shocked the entire nations as well as the cricket experts–sending fresh players to open in a world cup. The Kohli led team started off its first match against Pakistan and chose Suryakant Yadav to open for them. For a seasoned team like Pakistan, it was expected that an Indian batsman would be the first choice but to people’s shock, that was not the case.

Even in the second match, Ishan Kishan was chosen to open instead of a much experienced Rohit Sharma further raising questions on the decision that were made in the dressing room. The first two matches were crucial especially the one against Pakistan because not it directs the age-old health rivalry between the two nations in terms of cricket but also proves to be a huge motivating factor for either of the teams.

With New Zealand, the Indian side came in with a lot of pressure to perform because never has it happened in recent years that India has lost its first match in a league format. Hence the pressure to beat New Zealand was too high and it led to India losing their balance toward smid overs and eventually losing the match.

Former cricketers have also expressed their disappointment over the performance of the Indian team but many of them also seemed supportive for the team to bounce back and get in rhythm once again.
