As per the latest reports, the blast saw about five people getting injured but still officials believe that a serious case has been avoided as there were not many people present in the courtrooms as it was Thursday. The blast took place in the washroom on the second floor at around 12:22 pm.
There was a strike going on by the lawyers and it was another reason why a huge disaster was avoided but soon after the incident, the security officials did not waste any time emptying the corridors and vacate them as soon as possible. One of the injured persons in the incident has been identified as advocate RS Mand.
It is not yet clear what was the reason behind the blast as many feel that there is a possibility that the explosion happened due to a cylinder blast while others feel that it is not the case as the explosion happened inside the washroom which means that the blast could have been planted.
While talking to ANI, Ludhiana police commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said, “An explosion was heard near the record room on the second floor of the Ludhiana Court complex. One person died, two persons were injured in the incident.”
He also added that to investigate the matter, the bomb disposal team along with the forensics team has been called from Chandigarh and they will be giving details about the matter in the coming days.
“Some anti-national elements are doing such acts as Assembly elections are nearing,” said the chief minister of Punjab, Charanjit Singh Channi. He also added that the government is on alert for any such moments and those who are found guilty for this, they will not be spared.
