The former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh in a writ petition in the Supreme Court accused Maha Home Minister Anil Deshmukh of meddling in probes and ordering cops to investigate as per his desires.
He urged the SC for a prompt impartial and fair investigation by the CBI into alleged corrupt methods by Anil Deshmukh.
A week ago, Singh was transferred from the job of the police commissioner of Mumbai amidst an investigation by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) into the case of an explosives-loaded SUV found near businessman tycoon Mukesh Ambani’s residence.
On Monday, he also filed a case before the SC over his transfer to Home Guard Department and also alleged that his transfer was done in a “discretionary and unlawful” way, and not allowing him to complete his minimum tenure of at least two years.
Singh likewise added that as a police commissioner, he made sure that the investigation in Ambani’s threat breach case was carried out fair and transparently and without obstructing the NIA probe.
In the petition to the SC, he stated that the transfer was covered with malice, completely based on opinions, and pure speculation.
However, Anil Deshmukh reacted to Singh’s transfer by stating that he was transferred due to some serious security lapse that emerged in the police inquiry in the Ambani’s case.
