The scene is heating up a lot of in India over Electric cars and its definitely not got to do with the summers this time. As the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari has invited the tech billionaire Elon Musk to manufacture and sell a Tesla electric vehicle in India, the country is definitely going places.
India is all set to bet its money on Musk and is in no mood to give a market to the Chinese cars. As the EV and green energy scene in the country is rising rapidly, so will be the association of Musk with India. Here is a low down on the top manufacturers we see will be making it big in the EV sector:
Under the Tata bandwagon, it had jumped into the scene much before the whole India scene warmed up to EV. It launched its first in 2019. It was a Tigor EV.
In 2019, it was one of the first foreign car makers to try their hand on this technology. This South Korean brand has done its groundwork well to have thought of launching six new electric cars across various price points by 2028.
A trusted name in the two-wheeler segment, they have an old faith backing but still have to establish themselves in the EV market. The brand aims to manufacture over 1 million EVs by 2025 whilst expanding its plant and charging stations.
Ola Electric Mobility, a division of Ola cabs is a new kid on the block but has made a great impression in the EV market. Currently, Ola produces 1000 electric scooters and claims to become the largest two-wheeler brand in the world with an annual production of 10 million units in the coming years.
They launched themselves in 2016. They were the ones to launch an e-scooter way back then with never seen features like capacitive touch screen, user-based profiles and even an app to control various settings of the e-scooter. Ather Energy has received several investments from Hero MotoCorp in the past couple of years, which itself is a forefront player in the two-wheeler automotive sector.
