ESports governing body not recognized by the government of India

The Union Sports Minister, Kiren Rijiu, confirmed on Sunday that the ESports governing body called ESports Federation of India is not recognized by the ministry. ESports was a huge topic of discussion in the parliament yesterday.

The Indian assembly saw various topics being discussed that concern ESports. The bright future of this type of discipline was discussed along with other factors that make it stand apart from the traditional sports practices. They also reportedly discussed the process of growing the sport.

Kiren Rijiju gave credit to the organization responsible for promoting this genre of sports. This includes the Electronic Sports Federation of INDIA (ESFI), Esports Development Association of India (EDAI), and Esports India (EI) . He said that these bodies have emerged to promote ESports in India but having said that, the minister also said that none of these bodies have been recognized as an official representative as there is no affiliation from the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports,

This decision or rather an announcement has surely disappointed these bodies, who were handling all the ESPorts events till now. But it is especially hard on ESports Federation of India as it often took the lead in sanctioning the players in certain affiliation international level events.

ESFI was surrounded by controversy recently when news regarding it releasing a completely wrong Power Rankings for Valorant and Free Fire was released. Along with these titles, other few titles were also entirely wrong. The organization had only taken the results of the scrims into account, which was hosted by themselves only.

Through this, they have disregarded the efforts of the players who have been accumulating points over the years and have also participated in various other events. The ministry obviously feels that the organisation is not deserving or reliable enough to be given the affiliation. This is sure to trouble ESFI as it refers to itself as the body to regulate ESports in India.

But what seems to be working in favor of the Esports enthusiasts is that the sports minister has recognized the efforts of these organizations and acknowledges the fact that ESports is definitely increasing the country. It has also promised to provide all the help to players to further its reach.
