Elon Musk, CEO and founder of SpaceX, is someone whose one tweet shakes up the tech world be it for the best or worst.
Currently, the Tesla king is looking to launch one of the best available electric vehicles in India but in one of his Twitter interactions, he highlighted that it is the Indian government that is creating challenges ahead of the launch which is delaying the process.
But as soon as he tweeted about it, his handle was flooded with politicians stepping up to ease the process for him. Tesla is currently hoping to sell its vehicles in one of the world’s biggest markets but as per Musk, the process has been stalled in order to lower the import duty.
The important duty in India can be as high as 100 which makes the value of the cargo triple the cost. However, people are still eagerly waiting for the launch as it’s one of the most anticipated electric cars in today’s times.
To know further, one of them quizzed about it and asked what could be the date of potential launch to which Musk said that they are ‘still working through it as there are a lot of challenges with the government. He did not, however, give any further details on the matter.
Analyzing his interest in the Indian market and determining a potentially huge customer base for the tech giant, many Indian politicians, especially the chief minister, jumped on the opportunity to invite him to set up a plant in their respective states.
Telangana minister KT Rama Rao had invited the Tesla chief executive and asked Musk to set up a shop in the state saying that they will be “happy to partner Tesla in working through the challenges”. Post this, Punjab Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu and a Maharashtra minister also offered him a place to establish a manufacturing unit in their respective states.
