Elon Musk Creates An AI Company ‘X.AI’ To Compete With OpenAI

Twitter-owner & billionaire Elon Musk has founded a new artificial intelligence company called ‘X.AI’. As per reports, it will be a rival to ChatGPT-owned OpenAI.

Elon Musk has founded a new company solely focused on artificial intelligence. The company has been named X.AI, according to sources at The Wall Street Journal.

A recently filed Nevada document reveals that a new company has been incorporated with Elon Musk as its director and Jared Birchall, director of Musk’s family office, as its secretary.

It has been reported that Elon Musk has incorporated a new business on March 9th, 2023. The Verge has obtained the filing, which confirms this information.

Recently, rumors have been circulating about Musk’s plans to launch an AI company. According to a report by Business Insider, Musk has acquired thousands of graphic processing units (GPUs) to fuel an upcoming generative AI product.

According to the Financial Times, Musk intends to establish an AI company that will rival OpenAI, which is supported by Microsoft. Musk made efforts to secure funding from investors of SpaceX and Tesla to launch the company.

In a recent Twitter Spaces interview, Elon Musk was asked about his recent purchase of GPUs. However, the billionaire did not reveal any plans of building an AI company and instead commented that it appears to be a popular trend as “everyone and their dog is buying GPUs at this point.”

It has been reported that the name X.AI chosen by a certain individual matches the branding of X Corp.

This individual has also assigned the letter “X” to his vision of an all-encompassing application. This information has been confirmed by reliable sources.

Elon Musk, co-founder of OpenAI in 2015, has expressed his opposition towards the AI organization and even walked away from it in 2018. He has also signed a letter advocating for a halt on “giant AI experiments.”

OpenAI has gained significant recognition in recent months due to its technological advancements such as ChatGPT and GPT-4.

This has led to Microsoft and Google’s current efforts to incorporate AI tools more extensively into their products.
