In a sharp reaction, Deputy Election Commissioner Sudeep Jain stated in a letter to the Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee to stop belittling the Electoral body by alleging it has close relations with the Bhartiya Janta Party and warned that it might not want this to be repeated.
The Commission maintains that they would not like to continue being placed in the dock for supposed closeness to any political party, Jain added.
While addressing a rally in Bankura, the Bengal CM alleged that the ruling party is interfering with the Election Commission and inquired if the BJP is planning a conspiracy against her. She also blamed the EC for removing her director of security.
Moreover, while continuing to attack the Center over the farmers’ dissent, Didi stated that the farmers have been holding protests at Delhi borders for more than a half year now, yet the ministers are not conversing with them, rather, they are in Bengal lobbying for the forthcoming assembly elections.
The Bengal CM was seriously injured in an alleged assault on March 10 when she was at Nandigram. On Sunday, the Election Commission (EC) suspended Vivek Sahay, Banerjee’s head of Security, along with district magistrate Vibhu Goel, and Purba Medinipur’s Superintendent of Police Pravin Prakash over the Nandigram incident because of security lapse.
TMC leaders and the CM have continued to state that the incident was a conspiracy to kill her. The Election Commission has dismissed the claims of any such conspiracy and stated that it was a mere accident, after investigating reports made by election observers and West Bengal chief secretary.
The tussle between the BJP and TMC has increased as the state assembly polls are right at the corner. Both the parties are wrestling for power to win the race as it happens.
The West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has been campaigning throughout West Bengal in a wheelchair since the mishap. She expressed in the rally that she has been injured many times in the past also however she feels that the pain of the people of Bengal is more important than hers.
