Election 2022 Results: BJP Clinches 7th Term In Gujarat, Loses In Himachal

BJP won 7th time in the Gujarat Election 2022 with a historic seat count. However the biggest national party loses in Himachal Pradesh.

The BJP has won seven consecutive terms in Gujarat with an unprecedented number of seats that is close to 155, which is a significant increase in comparison to the previous record of just 149 snatched in Congress in 1985.

Bhupendra Patel is expected to remain as Chief Minister of Gujarat. Gujarat Chief Minister, as announced to be the case by the party in its campaign.

The Congress which has a vote share that was shattered due to The Aam Aadmi Party, suffered the most drastic drop in seats while the AAP is confined to single-digit numbers.

With Gujarat having voted for the BJP again for the seventh time in a row the election made an impact in the state of Gujarat: it awarded the party more than 50% in the vote, and the most seats within the House at 150 plus minus a “Hindutva wave’ while simultaneously making space for a new political party to fill the Opposition space.

The main takeaways from the 2022 elections are the powerful, unalterable influence of Prime Chief Minister Narendra Modi holds over his state of residence; the willingness for a segment of people to take on as an “outsider,” and the disdain of the exhausted Congress. 

Bhupendra Patel will be sworn in to another term as the Governor of Gujarat on the 12th of December as the BJP announced on Thursday. 

The oath ceremony will begin around 2 PM on Monday, with Premier Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah State BJP President C R Paatil said.

While the AAP was unable to put on an impressive show throughout the country, the bright spot to the AAP was 12.9-per percent vote share and five seat in the House and the fact that it emerged as an international party (six percent of the vote for at-least four states: Delhi, Punjab, Goa and Gujarat). 

In a number among the seats for which it was second, it received more than 20% of the votes. The Congress in contrast, has been nearly gone by winning just 17 seats.
