Egypt Starts Building Its First Nuclear Power Plant With Russia’s Support

Russia is helping Egypt build its first nuclear power plant at El Dabaa. This big project is a joint effort with Rosatom, Russia’s state nuclear company.

On Tuesday, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sissi announced this important step in Egypt’s relationship with Russia.

He said it’s like starting a new, excellent chapter of their history. This happened during a special event to start building Egypt’s first nuclear plant.

President el-Sissi talked about how this project is important for dealing with global energy issues and supply problems.

The El Dabaa plant will help Egypt get energy that’s safe, doesn’t cost too much, and is good for the environment. This means Egypt can rely less on oil and gas and avoid big changes in energy prices.

Russian President Vladimir Putin joined the event through a video call. He talked about how Russia is committed to modern industries and working together with other countries.

Putin said this nuclear plant project is a key part of the long-term relationship between Russia and Egypt. It aims to build modern industries, create jobs that require special skills, and solve social problems.

Putin also mentioned that he and President el-Sissi are working together on the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. They are also collaborating on other projects, like developing a Russian industrial zone near the Suez Canal.

The two leaders discussed Egypt’s wish to join BRICS, an important group of countries including Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, along with Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, and the United Arab Emirates. Putin supports Egypt becoming a full member of this group.
