ED Summons Arvind Kejriwal For 4th Time Regarding Delhi Liquor Scam

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has once again called Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister of Delhi, for questioning. This is the fourth time they’ve asked him to come. 

The ED is looking into a case about the Delhi Liquor scam. Kejriwal has missed the previous three times they asked him to come. He said those summons were not legal and had political reasons behind them. 

Now, the ED has issued a fresh summon and asked him to appear on January 18. But, Kejriwal plans to be in Goa from January 18 to 20 to get ready for the upcoming state elections.

BJP leader Harish Khurana criticized Kejriwal. He said Kejriwal is ignoring his legal duties and choosing personal activities like his Goa visit, Vipassana, and the Madhya Pradesh elections over respecting the law.

Another BJP leader, Bansuri Swaraj, also spoke up. She said it’s wrong for Kejriwal to avoid the investigation. She believes if ED sends a summon, anyone, including Kejriwal, should join the investigation, even if they’re honest. She emphasized how important it is for Kejriwal to respond to the ED’s call. 

Union Minister Anurag Thakur also commented on this situation. He recalled how Kejriwal used to speak against corruption in Congress from 2011 to 2014. Thakur finds it ironic that now Kejriwal is avoiding an investigation into corruption.

In this Liquor policy case, Kejriwal’s deputy, Manish Sisodia, and AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh are already in jail. The case is about wrongful changes in the liquor policy that the AAP Delhi government later withdrew. 

The CBI, another investigating agency, thinks that liquor companies had a big say in this policy and promised them profits. They are accused of giving kickbacks, some of which supposedly went to public servants. The ED is looking into the money from these kickbacks.

The BJP argues that the money from this supposed scam was used by AAP for their election campaign in Gujarat. This situation has led to a lot of discussions and concerns about what will happen next.If Arvind Kejriwal keeps skipping all the ED summons, the national agencies will run out of options and have to arrest him.
