The ED officials questioned Liger makers Puri Jagannadh & actress Charmme Kaur once more. On Thursday, they spent more than 12 hours at the ED office.
In response to probable violations of the Foreign Exchange Management Act, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) is concentrating on the money trail to the Hindi-Telugu film “Liger” (FEMA).
Puri Jagannadh, a film director, and Charmme Kaur, an actor-turned-producer, were interrogated by ED authorities all day long.
They were questioned on the funding for the August release “Liger,” which starred Vijay Deverakonda.
Additionally, American boxer Mike Tyson made a lengthy cameo appearance in the film, which had a reported budget of roughly Rs 125 crore.
Large-scale shooting took place in Las Vegas for the movie with Vijay Deverakonda and Ananya Panday in the key roles. But it flopped at the box office.
After Congress leader Bakka Judson complained to the ED about the money being invested in the movie through questionable means, the ED began a probe.
On Thursday, Puri Jagannadh and Charmme Kaur spent more than 12 hours at the ED office. Notices were sent to them 15 days ago.
Bakka Judson had taken issue with the fact that even politicians had contributed to the production. According to him, the investors thought it was the simplest method to convert their black money into white.
According to reports, ED inspectors questioned the director and producer about claims that foreign investors contributed tens of millions of rupees to the film’s production, presumably in violation of FEMA.
The investigating organization believes that other businesses had made payments into the accounts.
Puri Jagannadh and Charmee Kaur are appearing before the ED for the second time.
They were questioned by the agency along with other movie stars last year investigating claims of money in a drug case that purportedly involved celebrities.
