External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will join in the Second India-Australia-Japan-USA Ministerial Meeting, also called the Quadrilateral Security Dialog or Quad, on October 6 and 7 to discuss bilateral relations, post-Coronavirus International order, and call for a free, comprehensive, and open Indo-Pacific.

S Jaishankar will be meeting with Foreign Minister of Australia Maris Payne, Foreign Minister of Japan Toshimitsu Motegi, and United States Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo in Tokyo on October 6 and 7.

The meeting of the Quad Foreign Ministers was at first proposed to be held in New Delhi, however, the venue has now been moved to Tokyo. Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar could also meet Japan’s new Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga on the sidelines of the ‘Quad’ meeting, the sources stated.

However, on Tuesday, China criticized the expected Quad meeting, saying it is against the form of selective factions and hurts the third party’s interests.

Wang Wenbin, a representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Chinese Administration stated that ” China believes that the world is overriding trend is harmony, growth, and win-win cooperation. Rather than making selective factions, and the plurilateral and multilateral cooperation should be open, comprehensive, and crystal clear, Wang Wenbin included.

Jaishankar and his allies from the US, Australia, and Japan will talk about the post-Covid-19 international order and the requirement for a planned reaction to the different challenges arising out of the pandemic, as indicated by an official statement given by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).
