Drone Spotted Over PM Modi’s Residence, Probe Underway

On July 3, a drone was seen hovering above Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s residence in New Delhi triggered a security alert.

The incident came to the attention of the Delhi Police when they received information from the Special Protection Group (SPG) at 5:30 am local time.

It was reported that the drone was flying in the no-fly zone above the Prime Minister’s residence. The SPG is an elite force responsible for the Prime Minister’s security.

The official residence of the Prime Minister of India is located at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg, New Delhi. It is also known as Panchavati.

The residence is spread across 12 acres of land and includes five bungalows: Bungalows 1, 3, 5, 7, and 9.

Bungalow 7 is the Prime Minister’s office, while Bungalow 5 is his private residence. The Special Protection Group (SPG) lives in Bungalow 9.

The Delhi Police conducted extensive searches in the vicinity but did not find any trace of the unidentified flying object mentioned in the initial report.

They also contacted the air traffic control room (ATC), which confirmed that no such drone was detected near the Prime Minister’s residence.

As a sensitive area is involved, the police have launched an investigation to ascertain the facts and determine if any security breach occurred.

The Ministry of Home Affairs recently issued new rules regarding the Prime Minister’s security, appointing that an officer not below the rank of Additional Director-General from the Indian Police Service will oversee security arrangements.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Modi is expected to visit Varanasi, his parliamentary constituency, on July 7. During this visit, he is anticipated to launch various development projects worth around 3,000 crores (Indian rupees) in the region.

The Uttar Pradesh government is compiling a list of projects to be inaugurated and have their foundation stones laid by the Prime Minister, and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has been reviewing the progress of these initiatives with officials.

The drone near the Prime Minister’s house is a cause for concern. It shows that the nation has to strengthen the security protocols, and security agencies need to be more careful.

The investigation will hopefully reveal more about what happened, and the authorities will take steps to prevent this from happening again.
