Dolo, made in India tablets, becomes the go-to-fever drug during the pandemic

Dolo, a tablet used to treat fever, became a household name during the ongoing pandemic as from doctors to online suggestions, all were suggesting using these tablets for the purpose.

Dolo 650 has been part of prescriptions of doctors be it for those who have Covid or not. It is the first such made in India drug that has received such a popularity and trust among paracetamol users. It is manufactured by Bengaluru-based Micro Labs Ltd and has registered unprecedented sales since January 2020.

The company registered a sale of over Rs 560 cr which essentially crushed the rivals GSK pharma-manufactured Calpol, Sumo L and nearly 40 other brands in the segment that is the paracetamol drugs.

Even now, among the paracetamol sales, as the country has been hit by the third wave, Dolo sales have witnessed an upwards trend.

This in a way appreciates the efforts to promote the Made in India scheme in the country as it will further inspire different businesses to use the available Indian resources and labor to come up with alternate solutions to international products.

As for 2021, Dolo 650 saw sales worth Rs 28.9 crore till December. The most tablets were sold during April and May 2021, which saw the peak of the second wave of Covid-19 in India. Calpol’s sales in the same month were Rs 28 crore, up 56 per cent year-on-year. Explaining the trust on Dolo, Dr Ritesh Gupta with the Fortis C-DOC Hospital for Diabetes and Metabolic Diseases in Delhi said, “Dolo 650 is one of the brands of paracetamol, which is a time-tested and common medicine to treat fever.”
