Govt. of India & Ministry of Civil Aviation took an initiative with DigiYatra to provide comfort & save lots of time for Airport management & passengers.
The government has initiated the “DigiYatra” project to improve the experience of domestic travelers departing from Terminal 3 at the Delhi Airport by any carrier.
In keeping with the DigiYatra plan of the Indian government, the Android DigiYatra app’s soft launch took place on Monday at Delhi International Airport.
With this technology, all checkpoints—including airport entry, security checkpoints, aircraft boarding, etc.—would automatically process passengers’ entries based on the FRS (facial recognition system).
The use of technology will drastically speed up and streamline the boarding process, with each passenger needing less than 3 seconds at each touchpoint. Their faces would serve as their identification, as proof of immunization, and as a boarding permit.
As the passenger data is verified with the Airlines Departure Control System and only authorized passengers may enter the terminal, it will also ensure increased security at the airport.
The entire procedure is automatic and non-intrusive, resulting in staff optimization for stakeholders including the CISF, airlines, and others.
One of the first airports in the nation to use this technique is Delhi Airport. DIAL had previously undertaken its tests and constructed the necessary infrastructure at Delhi Airport’s Terminal 3.
During the trials, around 20,000 people used the facility, and they reported smooth and secure travel.
The DigiYatra app is currently accessible at Playstore in beta form (for the Android devices. Via a few weeks, the identical app will be accessible in the App Store for the iOS devices.
Before experiencing the hassle-free travel at the airport, domestic customers flying from Terminal 3 by any airline can download and register on DigiYatra app.
Based on facial recognition technology, the “DigiYatra” is a Biometric Enabled Seamless Travel experience (BEST). It seeks to give travelers a smooth, paperless travel experience.
The Ministry of Civil Aviation is in charge of the innovative Government of India programme known as DigiYatra.
It is consistent with the prime minister’s goal of making the country a society where everyone has access to the internet. Passengers will have a flawless experience thanks to the system.
The facial recognition system will encourage paperless travel, spare travelers from several identity checks, and increase security at the airport.
