With India being one of the developing economies in the world, there are many states in the country going in the right direction. Which are the top 5 developed states in India?

1) Tamil Nadu

Tamil Nadu is one of the most developed states in India. The annual growth rate of Tamil Nadu over the past few years has been higher than other states of India. The literacy rate in Tamil Nadu is also great. It is also the most urbanised state in India. The state is one of the major producers of turmeric in India.

Finance and Human Resources Management Minister Palanivel Thiaga Rajan recently said that 75 per cent of the families live in their own houses in Tamil Nadu.

As per the latest data, Tamil Nadu’s economy is about $290-300 billion currently. The State has also been at the forefront of attracting investments in the electric vehicle space. Satyakam Arya, the chairman of CII Tamil Nadu State Council, said that Tamil Nadu is the second highest contributor to India’s GDP.

2) Maharashtra

Maharashtra is also one of the most developed states in India in terms of economic parameters. Mumbai is known as the financial capital of the country. The Bollywood industry is also located in Mumbai.

Maharashtra’s economy is expected to grow by 12.1 per cent in 2021-22. The state has experienced comprehensive development across all its sectors. Reportedly, the state is also responsible for 40 per cent of India’s national income.

Recently, Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari inaugurated seven national highway projects worth Rs 5569 crore in Maharashtra.

3) Gujarat

Gujarat has been among the fastest-growing states over the past few years. Almost 25 per cent of India’s sea cargo passes through Gujarat’s ports. Gujaratis have dominated businesses across the country for centuries.

The state is also a centre for commerce and business. Gujarat also shows world-class performance in its production of cotton, castor, cumin, denim, and processed diamonds.

Recently, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated projects worth over Rs 20,000 crores, including a locomotive manufacturing unit in Gujarat’s tribal belt Dahod and Panchmahal.

4) Delhi

Delhi is one of the fastest-growing states in India. Despite the Covid-19 pandemic, Delhi’s Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) has touched Rs 9,23,967 crore in 2021-22.  Lots of people from different states come to Delhi to work.

The state is also implementing strategies to reduce the population.  The fourth master plan for Delhi (MPD) is being prepared to deal with the population. Reportedly, Delhi is also free from political violence.

5) Kerala

The main contribution of Kerala’s economy is in the service sector. The state enjoys the highest male and female literacy rates. The state also has a huge IT park called Technopark Trivandrum, which is home to over 200 companies. The state is also popular for its healthcare facilities.

Kerala has 10 ongoing projects worth Rs 5,884 crore and another eight projects worth Rs 37,327 crore. It will also be helpful in providing job opportunities to youth.
