Last updated on June 8th, 2022 at 03:50 am

Bhartiya Junta Party (BJP) leader Nupur Sharma’s careless mentions and statements about Prophet Mohammed has sent the state of Uttar Pradesh into a lockdown situation.

Since June 03, as many as 18 people have been killed over religious upheavals between the Hindu and Muslim communities. Primarily in Kanpur, some six people have also been left injured. A bandh has been declared over the comment and was requested by some Muslim communities, according to UP Additional Director-General (ADG) Law and Order, Prashant Kumar.

The video she claims has been altered to twist her narrative. In retrospect, the agitations culminating after her comments and this video circulation is only hurting UP greatly. While appealing for peace, the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) has been noted saying that such an incident taking place when the country’s president, prime minister and UP chief minister are in town is shameful for the state and those in charge of its law and order.
