Delhi Airport Establishes Special Terminal For G20 Summit Guests

India’s largest airport – Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL) has announced the establishment of a dedicated general aviation terminal to accommodate business guests arriving via chartered flights for the G20 Summit.

The CEO of DIAL, Videh Kumar Jaipuriar, highlighted the collaborative efforts with government agencies to ensure that all flights for the summit are parked on the air side.

Necessary parking slots have been made available for VVIP aircraft, and measures have been taken to decorate and enhance the ambiance of the general aviation terminal for a warm welcome to guests.

While some guests will arrive at the Air Force Station on the Palam side, many Heads of States and delegation members will use Terminal-3.

Special arrangements have been made for their convenience, including dedicated gates and a separate corridor for Immigration and Customs clearance. The collaboration with government agencies ensures a smooth process for all.

The Delhi airport in India is preparing to welcome guests and delegates for the G20 Summit, which will include global leaders like US President Joe Biden and French President Emmanuel Macron.

Over 50 VVIP jets will land at the airport for the summit. Three ceremonial lounges have been set up to receive the heads of state and other VIPs.

These lounges will allow the delegates to complete formalities and exit the airport without disrupting regular passenger traffic. Some important aircraft, including Air Force One, will be parked at the Palam Air Force Station.

The airport is currently facing a few parking issues due to a surge in air traffic and the grounding of 50 Go First aircraft.

The Air Traffic Control has issued instructions to restrict charter aircraft and business jets from landing or taking off on certain days during the summit.

VVIP flights will be given priority for landing, which may cause delays for other civil aircraft. The Safdarjung airport will be closed during this period, except for emergency or VVIP military helicopters.

The Delhi International Airport spokesperson said, “We take immense pride in India’s role as the host of the G20 Summit 2023.

“We take immense pride in India’s role as the host of the G20 Summit 2023. The restrictions (due to security) will not cause any impact on international flights.

We’d like to assure all travelers that Delhi Airport is fully equipped with ample parking space for aircraft. We have already provided the required parking at the airport. ”
