Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, during a public rally in Gurez, Bandipore, said that if India had a better relationship with Pakistan, it would have given more money to Pakistan than the amount they requested from the International Monetary Fund (IMF). He stressed that the upcoming elections in Jammu and Kashmir show the strength of India’s democracy.
Singh referenced former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, stating that when humanity, democracy, and Kashmiri culture come together, no one can stop Kashmir from becoming a peaceful and prosperous place again. He also mentioned the Prime Minister’s Development Package (PMDP) launched by PM Modi in 2015 for Jammu and Kashmir, noting that the funds provided were larger than the amount Pakistan sought from the IMF.
Targeting Pakistan, Singh accused the country of supporting terrorism in Kashmir and reiterated that India is ready to combat terrorism, even if it means crossing borders. He warned Pakistan not to underestimate India’s resolve.
Defence Minister Shri Rajnath Singh criticized the opposition parties, particularly the National Conference (NC) and Congress- INC for their stance on restoring Article 370. He said that only the Central Government has the authority to make such decisions. He also highlighted the progress that his government had made in Kashmir. He also shed light on increased tourism, the establishment of educational institutions like IIM and IIT, and the shift in focus for the youth from violence to education and technology.
