Danish Ambassador’s Plea Resolves Garbage Issue in New Delhi

On Wednesday, Freddie Sven, ambassador to Royal Denmark, shared a video on the social media platform X. In this video he was throwing light on the pile of garbage outside the embassy building..

Once Diplomat shared this video on his social platforms, it went viral within a few hours, but interestingly, within hours of posting this video, the garbage has now been cleared.

The New Delhi Municipal Committee  started cleaning the area soon.

The video is not deleted from the plateform, Danish diplomats are seen outside on the morning of the incident, with trash strewn across the street. But the video is still getting viral on X:

While sharing the video, he expressed his disappointment and said, “Welcome to the great, green and litter-free New Delhi.” He also talked about the area near the embassy complex, the service lane.

After highlighting the issue of the area he said in the video, “No more nice words, just action. My friends, dhanyawaad [Thank you in Hindi]”.

The video shared by the Danish ambassador was concluded by the horrific view of garbage dumps outside embassy in Delhi.

Freddy Svane tagged the Chief Minister’s Office in Delhi, the Royal Danish Embassy in India, and the  Delhi Lieutenant Governor in his X post.

After this plea by ambbasdor New Delhi Municipal Committee (NDMC) came into quick action and people from the Commitee rapidly visited the site to clean up. As can be seen from the pictures, Danish diplomats were also present along with NDMC officials.

They expressed gratitude for the quick response.

“This is the service lane here, and a few hours ago I put out a video to showcase that it could be a mess. But it takes human action, and the heroes from NDMC listened to the cry about why we should not leave such a beautiful lane full of trash. They took action. Dhanyawad!..This is about pointing at an issue not complaining. I am so proud that NDMC took action within a few minutes…I have lived here for 11 years. We love India.”
