A suspenseful thriller in D Block Movie will give you goosebumps. It could be a satisfying thriller if the first half would be less distracted by commercial concerns.
These days, there are a ton of campus-based stories, particularly concerning engineering life. Recently, movies like Hridayam as well as Don received positive reviews.
Because they instantly connected with their intended audience. Although D Block is similarly set in a Coimbatore engineering college, it takes a different route by telling a terrifying horror story that is allegedly based on true occurrences.
The campus shown in D Block is not just located in a remote place; it is encircled by a dense forest. The writer-director Vijay Kumar Rajendran has created the most of this setting, which is ideal for a thriller.
AKR Engineering College female students frequently have their bodies strangely discovered. The officials conveniently lay the blame on the wild animals to protect their reputation.
Arul (Arulnithi), who is distrustful, and his pals must solve the riddle and determine the purpose of these killings. They quickly learn that there is a crazy killer at work in this situation.
He receives a history, as is customary in such stories, which is thankfully a compelling and convincing one.
Despite the absence of supernatural aspects, D Block has a horror movie-like atmosphere, especially during the nighttime scenes.
There is constantly a sense of impending danger, which is intensified by some well-executed jump scares. Characters walk at night and visit locations they have been cautioned of, just like in a conventional horror movie.
We catch glimpses of a massive, black creature and its shadows, which gives us the chills. The danger here is a psycho killer with a really terrifying demeanor, so all of this build-up feels legitimate.
The protagonist of this movie is a regular person who needs his intelligence to identify a pattern in the murders.
The killer, though, is more akin to a superhuman you shouldn’t mess with. Due to his huge physique, the actor Charandeep looks the part wonderfully, and with his portrayal, he is believable enough to arouse dread and loathing.
If you have the patience to stick it out through the beginning, D Block contains enough compelling content to keep you interested all the way through.
We witness the females working together to defeat the unbeatable in the story’s finale. Despite having good intentions, the execution is poor and the background music is comical, seemingly designed to inspire the women.
It would have been better to have handled this key conclusion with more tact. Despite everything, D Block features a lot of memorable scenes. A great example is the fantastic intermission scene where the hero and the evil first meet.
The principal’s office then plays host to an exciting scene. When the owner of the college enters, Arul and his companion enter the room to look for some ancient records.
He can be seen standing directly behind them in the following image. For a brief moment, we believe the two have been apprehended, but a mirror separates them. A dramatic moment was masterfully created.
D Block contains many instances like these to demonstrate that Eruma Saani Vijay Kumar is a talented upcoming director.
This movie would have been a good thriller if the director had focused more on creating the first half fascinating and less on the humor and romantic parts.
