CSK Wins 5th Title, Crowned As Champions Of IPL 2023

Chennai Super Kings have become the champion of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. The team won a record-equalling 5th title after this match.

In a thrilling finale at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) emerged as champions of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023.

The Yellow team defeated the Gujarat Titans in a rain-curtailed match to claim their fifth IPL title, equalling the record set by the Mumbai Indians.

CSK won the toss and chose to field first. The Titans’ opening pair of Shubman Gill and Wriddhiman Saha got off to a flying start, putting up 62 runs in the powerplay.

Although Gill departed early, Saha continued his aggressive batting and scored a quickfire half-century. Sai Sudharsan’s impressive knock propelled the Titans to a challenging total of 214/4.

Rain interrupted CSK’s innings, reducing their target to 171 runs in a revised number of overs. Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway provided a solid start for CSK, and Ravindra Jadeja played a crucial role in the chase, hitting a boundary off the final ball to secure victory for his team.

With this win, CSK clinched their fifth IPL title, having previously won in 2010, 2011, 2018, and 2021. It was their 10th appearance in an IPL final, a remarkable achievement in itself.

Shubman Gill’s performance in the final was noteworthy, as he became the second-highest run-scorer in an IPL season with 890 runs, surpassing Jos Buttler’s tally from the previous year.

Wriddhiman Saha shone for the Gujarat Titans, scoring a quickfire half-century in the final.

He became the first player to achieve fifty-plus scores for two different teams in IPL finals, with his previous notable innings coming in the 2014 final for the Punjab Kings.

At the age of 38 years and 217 days, Saha also became the oldest batter to score a half-century in an IPL final, surpassing Shane Watson’s record.

CSK captain MS Dhoni achieved two significant milestones during the final. He became the first Indian wicket-keeper to record 300 dismissals in T20 cricket, and he also played his 250th IPL match, making him the most-capped player in the tournament’s history.

This was a thrilling IPL season for CSK, with notable contributions from players like Ruturaj Gaikwad, Devon Conway, Ravindra Jadeja, and the experienced leadership of MS Dhoni.
