Vivek Agnihotri’s much-awaited film The Kashmir Files was all set to release today. However, a district court has ordered a stay on the film just before the release. The decision was made after martyred Squadron Leader Ravi Khanna’s wife, Shalini Khanna, filed a complaint.
Shalini had attended the special premiere of The Kashmir Files on March 4. She claimed that the film has portrayed her husband in the wrong manner in one of the scenes. She further said that she objected to a scene that was wrongly depicted in the film after the premiere. However, the makers didn’t pay attention to her. When the makers did not reply to her, Shalini took the legal course on this matter. She complained to the district court about the film and its scenes.
Under the information received in this case, the court stayed the release of the film. The court reportedly said in its order that the scenes shown in the trailer of the film ‘The Kashmir Files’ about the petitioner’s husband and the wrong facts should be immediately removed.
According to India Today, the order issued by the court reads the immediate removal of the scene about the husband of the plaintiff (Shalini Khanna). Jammu’s Additional District Judge Deepak Sethi passed this order today.
The Kashmir Files, starring Anupam Kher, was scheduled to release on March 11. The film also stars Mithun Chakraborty, Darshan Kumar, Pallavi Joshi, Chinmay Mandlekar, Bhasha Sumbli, among others. The film is written and directed by Vivek Agnihotri.
Earlier, Agnihotri said that the film aims at capturing the authentic stories of the Kashmiri Hindu Genocide in a cinematic way. The film is about the story of the Kashmiri Pandits during the Kashmir Insurgency. Agnihotri was very much confident about the film. However, now the film cannot get released today.
