Congress President: Ashok Gehlot, Shashi Tharoor & Others Are In The Race

For the last 71 years, the Gandhi family has not allowed anyone (except themselves) to become the president of the Congress party. But this time it may turn around.

The Gandhi family is expected to potentially change leadership in the Congress presidential elections of 2022, which are scheduled to take place next month.

Numerous senior members are anticipated to participate in the presidential election, according to news reports & sources.

Ashok Gehlot, the chief minister of Rajasthan, and Shashi Tharoor, a member of parliament from Kerala, are two of the most prominent candidates to run for the Congress presidency.

These two continue to be the front-runners in the contest for the party’s top position, according to media reports.

In the meantime, insiders close to Ashok Gehlot claim that Rahul Gandhi is the front-runner to once again lead the Congress, despite the fact that his candidacy has not yet been formally proclaimed.

Rahul Gandhi has not formally declared that he will not be running for president of the Congress, despite numerous news reports claiming that the Gandhi family has opted to withdraw from the campaign this time.

7 Potential Candidates In The Congress Presidential Race

Many names have been mentioned as candidates amid the rumors of who will be the next president of the Congress.

The following senior party figures are apparently being considered for the party’s top position:

  1. Rahul Gandhi
  2. Ashok Gehlot
  3. Shashi Tharoor
  4. KC Venugopal
  5. Kumari Selja
  6. Malikarjun Kharge
  7. Bhupesh Baghel

Ashok Gehlot states that rather than considering running for Congress President, he is attempting to get Rahul Gandhi to do so. He continues to be a loyal supporter of Sonia & Rahul Gandhi.

The Congress party’s presidential elections are scheduled for October 17, and the results will probably be made public on October 19.

Sonia Gandhi currently serves as the Congress party’s interim leader; the new leader will assume office the following month.
