Congress Plaguing Politics in Punjab

Punjab – Between the ongoing political fiasco, Congress in Punjab is taking the front seat and gaining popularity among the locals. Its national spokesperson Supriya Shrinate stated that its leaders should talk more in private and less in public.

As former Punjab chief minister Amarinder Singh announced that he is quitting the party, Shrinate was hoping that he would reconsider his decision and was calling him as the soldier of the Congress.

For the last year, ex-CM Amarinder Singh has been under pressure to step down. Sympathizing with the G23 leaders, he criticized the manner in which the party is functioning and decisions are being taken, which mirrors the issues that the letter-writers have been raising.

The leadership change in Punjab and the ensuing political scenario have provided the in-house critics with an occasion to reassert themselves and demand that the central leadership takes note of the issues raised by them.

Punjab provided evidence of the central leadership’s newfound penchant for experiment and boldness. This move could be very well seen as Navjot Singh Sidhu replaced Amarinder with Charanjit Singh Channi as chief minister.

One of the defining attributes of a challenger is that he or she can topple the champion coming from a seeming weaker position. Although, it is believed that challenger usually does not meticulously engineer one’s own downfall from a commanding position.

Congress in Punjab is on the verge of meltdown as it ceases to provide any solution. It is in free-fall, with two dynasts that have proven their incompetence beyond all doubt stubbornly at the wheel, willing to sacrifice even the most vantage ground at the altar of dynastic entitlement.
